New club brings together aspiring privacy and data professionals

August, 2023 - Milton Keynes, England

The Junior Privacy Advisers’ Club (theJPA.club), a unique community aiming to bring together and develop the UK’s aspiring privacy professionals, has now launched.

The Junior Privacy Advisers’ Club (theJPA.club), resourced by law firm Shoosmiths’ Privacy and Data team, is the first dedicated group of its kind. The club offers free membership to a community of diverse professionals embarking on their career in data protection and privacy, as well as more established privacy professionals who wish to support the club with its mission.

theJPA.club exists to serve the needs of privacy advisers working as lawyers, DPOs, consultant advisers or other privacy professionals in the UK, whether in the private, public or third sector, including for regulators, NGOs and private practice law firms, as well as in-house.

Membership to the group will provide access to invaluable insight, encourage debate and work in partnership with all parts of the wider privacy community and industry to promote the interests of junior privacy advisers. There will also be a host of events aimed at supporting professional development and networking opportunities.

Sherif Malak, Partner at Shoosmiths, said:

“We are so pleased to officially launch theJPA.club and open the doors for aspiring privacy professionals to come together, learn and celebrate each other’s success.

By doing so we hope to build a community that crosses traditional boundaries within the field and establishes a network for the privacy leaders of the future.”

Shoosmiths’ Privacy and Data team, which is recognised as a leading practice by the Legal 500 and UK Chambers legal directories and was shortlisted for Privacy Team of the Year at the inaugural PICCASO Privacy Awards.
