Litigation Partner, Harry Sandick, Elected to the American Law Institute

December, 2023 - New York, New York

On Tuesday, December 19, Patterson Belknap Litigation Partner Harry Sandick was elected to the American Law Institute (ALI), the leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and otherwise improve the law. Founded in 1923, the ALI was established to address uncertainty and complexity in American law that had produced a "general dissatisfaction with the administration of justice." Harry is among 54 new members elected to the ALI today to continue the organization's tradition of "excellence in promotion and protecting the rule of law."

Harry focuses his practice on white collar criminal defense, internal investigations, securities fraud litigation, and civil and criminal appellate litigation. He has represented clients at every stage of the criminal process, ranging from witnesses who require counsel for an interview with the government during a grand jury investigation, to those who have been indicted and sentenced for serious white-collar offenses.

Harry has received recognition in Chambers USA in the area of white-collar criminal defense and investigations. He has also been recognized as a "National Practice Area Star" and a "Litigation Star" for New York in the area of White Collar Crime by Benchmark Litigation.

Harry is a frequent commentator on high-profile white collar cases. He is also a frequent speaker and writer on white collar, appellate, sentencing, and financial fraud topics, and has contributed articles to many industry publications. He is co-author of a chapter on pretrial representation in a leading treatise, "Defending Federal Criminal Cases." Harry also serves as the editor-in-chief for Patterson Belknap's Second Circuit Criminal Law Blog, which provides commentary and analysis of every criminal law decision rendered by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
