Bradley Attorneys Elected to Leadership Roles with Birmingham Bar Association

Bradley is pleased to announce that four of the firm’s attorneys have been elected to serve in leadership roles with the Birmingham Bar Association (BBA) for the 2024 term.

Birmingham partner Stanley E. Blackmon, the immediate past president of the Young Lawyers Section (YLS), was elected to the Place 2 seat on the BBA’s Executive Committee. The Executive Committee governs the BBA, which has 3,300 members in the greater Birmingham area, and facilitates numerous continuing legal education programs, including an annual Bench-Bar conference; publishes a quarterly bulletin; provides a website for members and the public; and offers numerous social events and activities for its membership.

Serving in roles for the BBA’s YLS are Carmen E. Weite, who has been reappointed vice president of public service, and Mason Kruse and Riley McDaniel, who have been appointed as members of the YLS Executive Committee. Randi McCoy, a practice manager at Bradley, will also serve on the Executive Committee. All five will serve one-year terms effective January 1, 2024.

Mr. Blackmon is a partner in Bradley’s Appellate Practice Group and concentrates his practice on high-stakes and appellate litigation throughout the federal and state court systems, with a focus on legal strategy, motion practice and appeals. He has litigated a variety of cases and also has an active pro bono practice. Mr. Blackmon is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law and received his undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University.

Ms. Weite litigates a variety of civil and commercial disputes including business torts, breach of contract, employment-related matters, environmental law, insurance coverage and product liability. She has previously served as a member of the BBA’s Young Lawyers Section Executive Committee and is an active member of the DRI. Ms. Weite received her J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University and received her B.S. from the University of Florida.

Mr. Kruse is a member of Bradley’s Litigation Practice Group, as well as the Cannabis Industry team. He is a frequent author on topics impacting the cannabis industry, including litigation and licensing, particularly as medical marijuana has become legalized in Alabama and Mississippi. Mr. Kruse earned his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law and received his B.A. from the University of Alabama.

Mr. McDaniel focuses his practice on high-stakes and appellate litigation and has litigated a range of commercial, pharmaceutical, product liability and healthcare matters. He regularly assists clients with legal strategy, motion practice and appeals and maintains an active pro bono practice. Mr. McDaniel is a member of the Alabama State and Birmingham Bar Associations, as well as the DRI. Mr. McDaniel earned his J.D. from Emory University School of Law and received his B.A. from Auburn University.
