SyCipLaw has been featured for the first time in the recently launched The Legal 500 Asia Pacific Green Guide 2024. The Firm has been cited for its significant contribution to the green transition through its client work and thought leadership commitment, with a strong focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).

SyCipLaw was spotlighted for its work on the provision of a US$500,000 facility by UBS Optimus Foundation to Blue Alliance, whose purpose is to promote the protection and restoration of marine ecosystems in the Oriental Mindoro province. The Firm also advised on tax implications and negotiated necessary corporate approvals.

Also mentioned is SyCipLaw's pro bono work through TrustLaw, where the Firm assisted B Corporation Smart Air in obtaining registration for its trademark. Smart Air is a social enterprise that creates affordable air purifiers for the Philippine market while holding workshops to educate people on the harmful effects of air pollution.

The Firm's environmental responsibility strategy has overseen the adoption of green guidelines to direct its employees into reducing paper waste, minimizing energy usage, and boosting recycling. It has engaged in recycling and e-waste collection initiatives to further drive employee engagement with internal sustainability efforts.

Through its Sustainability and ESG group, SyCipLaw contributed to publications on the issuance of SDG bonds in the ASEAN region and ESG investing, hosted a forum for its legal staff on climate change and its impacts corporate governance, and presented a podcast on sustainability and ESG developments.
