SyCipLaw Conducts Seminar on Case Management and Arbitration

SyCipLaw's Litigation Department, in cooperation with SyCipLaw Cebu branch, recently conducted a two-part seminar for its Cebu clients entitled “Dispute Management Strategies: A SyCipLaw Seminar on Case Management and Arbitration,” which was held at Holiday Inn Cebu City. A total of 31 clients representing 13 organizations attended the seminar.

For the first part of the seminar, senior associate Ramon I. Rocha IV, with the assistance of senior associate Austin Claude S. Alcantara, presented the general aspects of case management and discussed a slew of best practices in preparing for court litigation. After the presentation, senior partners Ramon G. Songco and Anthony W. Dee, SyCipLaw Cebu special counsel Christian B. Llido, and senior associate Gian Carlo B. Velasco, conducted a panel discussion on best practices for handling court litigation. SyCipLaw Cebu Associate Keisha Trina M. Guangko moderated the panel discussions.

Senior associate Jewelle Ann Lou P. Santos gave a presentation on arbitration as a means of settling disputes for the second part of the seminar. Her presentation delved into the advantages of arbitration as a dispute resolution process, as well as the arbitration system in the Philippines under Republic Act No. 9285, or the ADR Act. Senior partner and Litigation Department head Ricardo Ma. P.G. Ongkiko led the panel discussion, with senior partner Carlos Roberto Z. Lopez, partner John Christian A. Regalado, and SyCipLaw Subic senior associate Rosevee R. Paylip-Guiang, with Ms. Guangko again moderating.
