HEUKING advises UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) on ESG agreement with KfW
A HEUKING team with members from the ESG (Dr. Anne de Boer, Stuttgart), Compliance (Dr. Martin Ströhmann, Munich), and Finance (Michael Neises, Frankfurt) practice groups legally supported and advised the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) on negotiating and entering into a contract with Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) to protect the Brazilian rainforest.
As part of the“REDD Early Movers–Mato Grosso Phase 2”program, the contract was signed at the COP28 World Climate Conference in Dubai that was held from November 30 to December 13, 2023.
KfW is a German promotional bank and a worldwide leader in this sector. The promotional transactions are almost entirely financed via the international capital markets.
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) is a department of the UK government. Its priorities include the implementation of energy policy objectives.
