Buchalter Welcomes New Immigration Attorneys in Its Seattle Office, Announces New Immigration Practice Group
8 July 2024 – Buchalter is pleased to welcome new members Kripa Upadhyay and Eileen DaPra to its Seattle office and announce the Immigration Practice Group.
Upadhyay assists clients in guiding strategies for establishment of subsidiary/affiliate offices in the US; movement of key individuals/employees of foreign entities into the US; recruiting and retaining foreign talent, and providing immigration plans for international mergers and acquisitions. This includes representation of foreign executives (EB-1C); and Exceptional Ability employees/individuals (EB-1A; NIW, O-1 and L-1). She also advises and guides individuals interested in investing in the US, in entities either established or expanding to the US, and for Investors seeking Immigration benefits via investment in the US.
Upadhyay also helps companies address the challenges of U.S. immigration compliance and has worked with major corporations to build out compliant immigration visa programs, securing a variety of short-term and long-term visas/residency for their global employees. She also spends time on I-9 employment verification matters as well as H-1B and LCA compliance, including internal and external audits and reviews to minimize employer liability.

DaPra advises foreign national clients on various immigration issues, including E-2 Treaty Investors. She assists U.S. employers in recruiting and maintaining foreign talents with employment-based immigration petitions. This includes H-1B, L-1A, L-1B and O-1. DaPra also guides foreign employees through the process of obtaining their immigrant status based on EB-1 petitions.
Portland Shareholder Andrea Bartoloni is the Chair of the Immigration Practice Group. He focuses his practice on temporary working visas, labor certification, employment based permanent resident visas, and extraordinary ability and investor visas. Mr. Bartoloni is also the Honorary Consul of Italy for the State of Oregon. In this role, he is the official Oregon representative of the country of Italy and aids in providing consular services and encouraging economic development between Italy and the State of Oregon, a prestigious international diplomatic appointment made by the Italian Government and the State Department.
