Greenspoon Marder Intellectual Property Practice Group Leader Sharon Urias Successfully Represents Client in Domain Dispute
Scottsdale, Ariz. – January 13, 2025 – Greenspoon Marder is pleased to announce that Intellectual Property Practice Group Leader and partner Sharon Urias successfully won a reverse domain name hijacking case filed in the U.S. District Court, District of Arizona, reversing a decision by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) requiring Rhino Entertainment Ltd. to transfer the domain to a company in New Delhi, India.
Because the domain was hosted by GoDaddy, which is headquartered in Arizona, Ms. Urias filed the lawsuit in Arizona District Court within 10 days of the WIPO order to prevent the transfer of the domain. The judge ruled in favor of Rhino Entertainment, allowing the company to keep the domain name. The ruling also cited the case as exceptional and awarded attorneys’ fees.
With over 28 years of experience, Ms. Urias regularly represents clients in intellectual property litigation involving trademarks, trade secrets, domain name disputes, patents, and copyrights. She also has extensive experience in commercial litigation, defending clients in both state and federal courts across the country.
