Deacons Has Won Four Prestigious Awards in 2009 from Leading International Publications and Directories in Recognition of the Firm’s Outstanding Legal Service

Deacons has won four prestigious awards in 2009 from leading international publications and directories in recognition of the firm’s outstanding legal service.

In March 2009, Deacons was named one of the Best Firms in Hong Kong to work for in the 2009 ALB Employer of Choice Survey conducted by the prominent regional legal publication Asian Legal Business (ALB) magazine. The publication surveyed over 20,000 lawyers across Asia who assessed law firms on criteria including; financial rewards, professional development and training, performance feedback and supervision, quality and variety of work, work/life balance and career prospects. Deacons was also voted Employer of Choice in the same survey in 2008.

In the same month, Deacons was awarded the Hong Kong Firm of the Year 2009 by the international publication, Managing Intellectual Property (MIP). This is the third year in succession that Deacons has been recognised as Hong Kong Firm of the year. MIP, published by Euromoney PLC, is widely considered to be the leading international IP journal and the awards event attracted over 250 IP lawyers from all over the world.

In April 2009, Deacons was awarded the 2009 Hong Kong Law Firm, PRC Office of the Year at a ceremony held by ALB China. Deacons won the same award 2008 and 2006. At the same ceremony, Deacons won the Real Estate & Construction Deal of the Year. The Deal was Asia Pacific's acquisition of The Center in Shanghai from Hutchison Harbour Ring Limited at a consideration of RMB4.4billion. Deacons' Corporate Finance Practice Group acted for the seller, Hutchison Harbour Ring Limited, in this deal. The ALB China Law Awards 2009 recognised the excellence of China's leading law firms and the top deals and dealmakers of 2008. Over 400 of China's business leaders including investment bankers, solicitors, in-house counsel, judiciary, CEOs and CFOs attended the awards event.
