Dykema’s Sean Griffin Earns DRI G. Duffield Smith Outstanding Publication Award
Dykema, a leading national law firm, announced today that Washington, D.C.-based member Sean C. Griffin has earned DRI’s G. Duffield Smith Outstanding Publication Award for his November 2016 article on data security titled, “Hacks, Files, and Ethical Gapes: Attorneys’ Liability for Data Breaches,” which appeared in the DRI publication For The Defense. Griffin will be recognized at the Awards Luncheon of DRI’s 2017 Annual Meeting in Chicago on October 5, 2017.
Each year, the G. Duffield Smith Outstanding Publication Award recognizes the author(s) of the previous year’s outstanding feature article from either DRI publication For The Defense or In-House Defense Quarterly.
DRI is a leading organization of civil defense attorneys and in-house counsel which provides access to resources and tools for member attorneys who strive to provide high-quality, balanced and excellent service to clients and corporations. DRI consists of 29 substantive committees whose focus is to develop ongoing and critical dialogue about areas of practice.
In his commercial litigation practice, Griffin focuses on cases involving allegations of breach of contract or fraud. His experience includes litigating cases in federal and state courts and arbitration panels around the country. As a former DOJ trial attorney, Griffin helps clients respond to subpoenas investigating violations of federal or state laws, including the False Claims Act, the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and securities laws. He also assists clients with data security matters and responding to data breaches.
Griffin received his J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law, and a B.A., cum laude, from Harvard University.
