Sakina Rasheed Foster Co-Chairs Dallas Bar's Legal Aid Campaign
Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Sakina Rasheed Foster is co-chairing the 2017-2018 Equal Access to Justice Campaign benefiting the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP).
The campaign is the Dallas Bar Association’s key annual project to raise funds to support providing pro bono legal aid to low-income Dallas County residents.
The bar association announced July 24 that Foster will serve with co-chairs Jonathan Childers, a partner at Lynn Pinker Cox & Hurst, LLP, and Cheryl Camin Murray, a Winstead PC shareholder.
“Dallas has the highest number of people living 185 percent below the poverty line of any American city, and this directly affects our residents’ ability to access the justice system,” Foster said in the DBA announcement. “As lawyers, it is our duty to help those in need gain access to the legal help they need, and that is exactly the mission of the Equal Access to Justice Campaign. I am honored to serve alongside Cheryl and Jonathan to help this worthy cause.”
The campaign runs until Jan. 20, 2018.
Foster is a leader in the legal community, serving on the DBA Board of Directors and as board advisor for the Minority Participation and Peer Assistance committees and the International Law Section. She also was a member of the Leadership Dallas Class of 2016.
At the firm, Foster practices in the Finance Group, representing financial institutions and borrowers in complex commercial loan transactions. She also represents airlines and handles aviation matters. She has experience advising banks, private equity firms, corporations and individuals in connection with senior and subordinated financing.
