Four Haynes and Boone Lawyers Featured in Dallas 500 Ranking
Four Haynes and Boone, LLP lawyers have been featured in the D CEO Magazine's 2017 listing of the most influential leaders in North Texas. Firm Co-Founder Michael Boone, Managing Partner Tim Powers, and Partners Melissa Goodman and Jeff Dorrill were included in the 2017 "Dallas 500" directory.
Featuring the region's most powerful leaders in more than 60 categories, the Dallas 500 provides an engaging, personal look at the people who have made Dallas-Fort Worth such a powerful economic force.
Honorees shared business and life advice, challenges they have had to overcome in their lives and careers, hobbies, bucket list goals and other fun facts.
Boone, described as handling some of DFW's most notable M&A deals, said he chose to be a lawyer because he enjoys "problem solving and helping people." Asked to look into future, he said: "I am excited about our law firm's potential to grow internationally."
Dorrill, a partner in the Business Planning and Tax Practice Group, said he spent a lot of time in grade school crunching sports statistics. "That love of math, combined with a talent for debating, led him to tax law." The profile also discussed his triathlon exploits. "Dorrill, at age 55, recently joined the University of Alabama's triathlon team, as he's doing an online master's at the school."
Labor and Employment Partner Goodman learned her work ethic growing up on a farm in Iowa. Goodman would be up at 5 a.m., cleaning pig crates before school. Impressed with how TV's Perry Mason solved cases, "she told her father when she was 10, 'That's what I'm going to be when I grow up.'" If she could give advice to an 18-year-old version of herself, she said she would counsel: "Stay focused on the big picture and don't sweat the small stuff."
Haynes and Boone Managing Partner Powers said his most exciting assignment was helping secure the return of medieval art that a U.S. Army "Treasure Hunt." Powers said one of the key lessons he has learned is "treat everyone with respect, without exception."
The Dallas 500 will be distributed in November to the subscribers of D CEO.
