Haynes and Boone Gets 2017 Gold Award for Dallas Volunteer Work
Haynes and Boone, LLP has again been awarded the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program's (DVAP) Gold Award for Pro Bono Service for law firms with more than 150 lawyers. The firm was honored for the third consecutive year for its outstanding pro bono services in the Dallas community.
"We are immensely proud to receive this recognition, as it underscores the firm's commitment to provide legal aid to those who would not otherwise have access to our U.S. justice system," said Haynes and Boone Partner Debbie McComas, co-chair of the firm's Pro Bono and Public Service Committee. "We particularly value our longstanding service to DVAP, which has included staffing DVAP clinics and handling critical cases for members of the Dallas community."
Haynes and Boone received the 2017 Gold Award at the 35th Pro Bono Awards Reception on Nov. 8 at the Belo Mansion in Dallas. The event recognized judges, attorneys, law firms, court reporters and legal staff who have provided nearly 40,000 hours of free legal aid to Dallas residents who could not otherwise afford it.
Haynes and Boone has a deeply rooted tradition of pro bono service in the Dallas community, including support for DVAP and its programs. DVAP is an organization dedicated to increasing and enhancing pro bono legal services to the poor in Dallas through the recruitment, training and support of volunteer attorneys. DVAP is a joint program of the Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas created in 1997 when the organizations merged their previously separate pro bono programs to create one cohesive effort to address the legal needs of the poor in Dallas.
