Shoosmiths proudly supports Ethical Reading initiative

December, 2017 - Thames Valley, England

National law firm Shoosmiths is an official partner of the new Ethical Reading social enterprise initiative, which has its formal launch on 24th January 2018.

Ethical Reading is a not-for-profit business set up with the aim of making Reading a better place to live and work by encouraging organisations and those who work within them to become more ethical in their behaviour.

The initiative will provide a combination of networking, seminars, inspirational speakers and training to promote ethical behaviour when making decisions on financial matters, issues of governance and anything that impacts on employees, customers, suppliers, the local community and the environment.

The formal launch will take place at a breakfast event at Thames Tower, Reading, on Wednesday 24 January at 8.00am. Supported by Shoosmiths, Grant Thornton and the Business Ethics Alliance, over 100 business leaders from various industries and organisations are expected to attend.

Jonathan Naylor, head of Shoosmiths’ Thames Valley office, commented: “As a longstanding business in Reading we take our corporate social responsibility incredibly seriously and are always looking for ways in which our employees can support ethical practice in the wider business community.

“Ethical Reading is a fantastic initiative; one that we hope will help to ensure that the interests of people who live and work in Reading are at the heart of vital decisions that will, directly or indirectly, impact on their lives.”

The launch will provide an opportunity to learn, connect and collaborate – with a mixture of presentations from guest speakers, group exercises and a panel session covering real world ethical issues in the workplace.
