New site for Münster Correctional Facility - Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek supports Building and Property Management Department BLB

February, 2018 - Duesseldorf, Germany

BLB, the North-Rhine Westphalia Building and Property Management Department, will build a modern correctional facility in Münster-Wolbeck. The new correctional facility that will be able to house 640 prisoners will replace Germany's oldest correctional facility in Münster's city center and is expected to be completed by 2024.

BLB selected an 18-hectare site on the outskirts of Münster's Wolbeck district. The properties are within a radius of 10.5 km around the Regional Court and the Local Court, while the nearest contiguous development is 1.2 km away. Prior to the acquisition, BLB carried out an extensive site analysis to find the most suitable location.

Dr. Ute Jasper, Dr. Christopher Marx, and Dr. Florian Brombach of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek accompanied the complex acquisition of the land for the correctional facility. "We are pleased to have successfully supported BLB in this project as well," said Dr. Ute Jasper, Head of the Public Sector & Public Procurement Practice Group at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek. "BLB's Board of Directors approved the purchase agreement, and the key legal issues relating to the contract have been clarified," added Dr. Christopher Marx, who was responsible for the contract negotiations.
