International Student Competition on the CISG and Commercial Arbitration: 2nd Hanseatic CAM CCBC Pre-Moot in Hamburg

The 2nd CAM CCBC Hanseatic Pre-Moot, held in Hamburg on March 21, 2018, will give skilled law students from all over the world the opportunity to test their arguments in an international context. The Pre-Moot, initiated by Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, takes place with the support of the well known Brazilian Center for Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada (CAM CCBC), the Hamburg Arbitration Circle, the Moot Alumni Association of the University of Hamburg and thirteen Hamburg law firms.
Participants are preparing for the international "Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court" student competition in Vienna. The Willem C. Vis Moot is one of the world's largest student contests, focusing on the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (“CISG”) and commercial arbitration in order to let them be better known. Based on a realistic, but fictitious case, the teams submit memorandums for claimant and respondent and prepare pleadings for both sides.
On March 21, 2018, the 26 international teams (from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Ethiopia, Iran, India, Lebanon, Russia, and other countries) will compete in various law firms and hold their pleadings in front of experienced arbitration experts in order to obtain valuable feedback for the final rounds in Vienna. The competition will be held in English and there will be a closing event at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek’s Hamburg office.
The Pre-Moot will be preceded by the Hamburg International Arbitration Day on March 20, 2018 on the topic of "Third-Party Funding in International Arbitration" (a problem of this years’ case) and other accompanying workshops organized by the Bucerius Law School. Thus, the CAM CCBC Hanseatic Pre-Moot has developed to a “must participate” for all participants of the Vis Moot.
