Whitney Remily and Maudess Fulton Chosen for Diversity Leadership Programs

Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Whitney Remily and Associate Maudess Fulton have been selected to participate in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity's signature programs aimed at preparing diverse young lawyers for leadership roles in the profession.

Remily, a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group, was named to the 2018 class of LCLD Fellows. The fellows take part in a yearlong, in-depth program devoted to relationship-building, in-person training, peer-group projects and other activities to develop their legal and leadership skills.

Fulton, an associate in the Finance Practice Group, was appointed to the 2018 class of the LCLD Pathfinder program, which trains early-career lawyers in critical career-development strategies, including leadership and professional network-building.

Both lawyers are based in Haynes and Boone's Washington, D.C., office.

Remily has more than 15 years of experience as a lawyer and registered patent agent. She focuses on transactional work in the chemical field with a particular focus on rendering patent opinions and conducting other forms of due diligence and landscape analyses.

She has significant experience involving generic drug makers' filings of Abbreviated New Drug Applications and has handled more than 500 opinion matters, including issues relating to FDA exclusivity, new chemical entities, importation of active ingredients, synthetic intermediates, polymorphs, approved and off-label indications, finished formulations/compositions and drug products. She also negotiates licenses, prepares and prosecutes patent applications (including patent term extensions) and counsels clients in patent litigation.

Remily previously worked at Merck & Co. as a synthetic organic chemist, where she was involved in the synthesis and development of pharmaceutical compounds. She received her B.A. in Chemistry and Biology from Cornell University, her M.A. in Organic Chemistry from Johns Hopkins University and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Fulton represents institutional lenders in a variety of complex financing transactions, including subscription-secured credit facilities, syndicated financings, acquisition financings and multi-jurisdictional and multi-currency facilities. She also has experience representing financial institutions in commodity finance transactions, project finance and development transactions and cross-border financings.

She received her B.A. from Rice University and her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School.

LCLD was founded in 2009 and has grown to include more than 285 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive legal profession. The Fellows Program has trained more than 1,000 mid-career lawyers since 2011. The Pathfinders Program was piloted in 2015 and now is in its third full-scale year.
