Landry's Names Haynes and Boone Its 2017 National Law Firm of the Year
Landry's, Inc., a privately owned, multi-brand dining, hospitality and gaming corporation that operates (through various subsidiaries and affiliates) more than 600 restaurants, hotels, casinos and entertainment destinations across the United States, has selected Haynes and Boone, LLP as its 2017 national law firm of the year.
In selecting the firm, Landry's General Counsel Steve Scheinthal highlighted Haynes and Boone’s role in advising Landry's, Inc., and Golden Nugget, Inc., in a complex, multibillion-dollar transaction that is considered the largest dividend recapitalization in U.S. history.
The proceeds from the dividend created by the transaction were used by Tilman Fertitta, chairman, CEO and sole shareholder of Landry's, to purchase the Houston Rockets.
"We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition from Landry's, which has been a valued client of the firm for years," said Haynes and Boone Partner Bill Nelson, who co-chairs the firm's Capital Markets and Securities Practice Group.
Nelson and Haynes and Boone Partner Paul Amiel co-led the team that handled the recapitalization.
"This was a highly complex transaction that was successfully completed on an expedited basis thanks to the skill and diligence of the Haynes and Boone team along our partners at Landry's," said Amiel.
Nelson and Amiel were assisted on the transaction by Dallas-based Partner Monika Sanford and Houston-based Partner Kristina Trauger.
