Karanović & Nikolić at the Intellectual Property in Serbia Conference
Tamara Bubalo, Associate in Karanović & Nikolić's Intellectual Property practice group, held a presentation on 5 March at the "Intellectual Property in Serbia" conference. Organized by the European Law Students Association (ELSA) as part of the "IP Law in Serbia" project, the event was held at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Law premises and was attended by more than 140 eminent legal and business professionals and students.
The conference was opened by a welcome speech from Sima Avamović, the Dean of the Belgrade Law Faculty. He emphasised the significance of Intellectual Property as a subject that is yet to gain the momentum it deserves in Serbia and greeted student efforts to raise awareness and discus important topics.
Ms Bubalo's presentation, titled "The Transfer of Rights through Leasing and Franchise Agreements", was in the first panel of the conference. Before explaining the two types of agreements – their key points and characteristics, as well as practical insights, she stressed the importance of intellectual property evaluations and IP portfolio analyses.
Other speakers included Vladimir Marić, director of the Serbian Intellectual Property Office, Miroslav Bojović from Paragraf lex, as well as MASCOM company representatives and Law Faculty lecturers.
