January, 2018 - Detroit, Michigan

Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the addition of Butch Hulse to its Commercial Litigation Practice Group as a member in the firm’s San Antonio office. Hulse, who joins Dykema after nearly a decade serving as in-house counsel and later Chief Compliance Officer with Acelity (formerly Kinetic Concepts, Inc.), is a former Shareholder with Cox Smith Matthews, which combined with Dykema in May 2015.

Hulse has two decades of experience handling complex litigation, compliance and risk matters. In his last role with Acelity, he served as Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management, Quality and Regulatory and was responsible for leading all facets of regulatory, quality and compliance.

Hulse’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and investigations for both public and private companies. His experience spans such areas as intellectual property litigation, products liability, mass tort/class action litigation, anti-corruption compliance, health care compliance, data privacy and security, and internal investigations, as well as several other areas. He has experience interacting with state, federal and foreign governmental agencies, including the Department of Justice and State Attorneys General, on a variety of complex legal, compliance and regulatory matters.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have Butch rejoin the firm,” said Marty Truss, Managing Member of Dykema’s San Antonio office. “His experience as a trial lawyer and then corporate counsel with sophisticated intellectual property and business litigation, combined with his leadership role managing regulatory and compliance issues domestically and abroad give Butch a compelling set of skills to offer our clients, particularly in health care and technology fields.”

Hulse earned a J.D. from the Baylor University School of Law, and a B.A. from Angelo State University. He has also participated in several executive education programs, including programs with the Harvard School of Business and the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.
