Shoosmiths Adds Partner with Extensive Residential Development and Commercial Property Skills to Growing Team
National law firm Shoosmiths LLP has strengthened its real estate offering by appointing commercial property and residential development specialist, Paul Murray, as partner.
Paul, who is based at the firm's Reading office, has extensive experience in handling commercial property transactions, but for the last 16 years has specialised in acting for housebuilders and their funders. Paul also continues to act for a number of commercial developers and investment clients in addition to advising on their funding requirements.
Paul joins Shoosmiths from Pitmans LLP, where he was a partner for 10 years. Prior to this, he worked for Layton's Solicitors in London, and has experience as an in-house lawyer for Catesby Property Group.
Alan Corcoran, real estate partner, said Paul's appointment would help strengthen the depth of the real estate team both locally and nationally: "Paul is joining at an exciting time for Shoosmiths as the firm grows and is realising its vision to be one of the leading real estate teams in the UK. Paul is well known and respected in the markets in which he operates and, importantly for Shoosmiths, is an excellent relationship builder. Paul will provide our clients with the exceptional experience they expect when they come to Shoosmiths for advice."
Steve Wiltshire, head of residential development at Shoosmiths, said: "Paul has exceptional knowledge of the residential development market. His contribution will be extremely valuable as we continue to build our strength and depth at all levels across the UK in Residential Development and as we look to increase our ability to serve many and varied housebuilders, developers and promoters both large and small. Our firm delivers a true cradle to grave residential development service, which, many clients tell us, is unrivaled elsewhere in the UK."
Paul Murray, said: "What impresses me most about Shoosmiths is this is a business that has its eyes firmly on the future - firstly it is growing a fantastic reputation across the UK and secondly there is a strong sense of cross-division and team collaboration at the firm, which is an important component in delivering exceptional advice to clients.
I am very much looking forward to being a part of Shoosmiths' national real estate team and playing my part in helping to grow this area of the business."
Shoosmiths' national real estate team has been shortlisted for Legal Team of the Year at the Estates Gazette Awards 2018. The South East real estate team is also ranked in the top tier of independent legal directory, the Legal 500 and Chambers.
Shoosmiths' real estate team services a wide variety of clients on real estate, construction, planning, property litigation and environmental issues. Clients range from commercial and residential developers to investors, major corporate occupiers and public sector bodies.
