Asters' International Trade Team Secures a No-duty Outcome in Anti-dumping Investigation into UFC Imports

September, 2018 - Kyiv, Ukraine

Asters successfully defended a leading chemical producer in a 15 months anti-dumping investigation into urea formaldehyde concentrate (UFC) and urea formaldehyde resin (UFR) imports into Ukraine.

The investigation was launched back in April 2017 following the complaint of a national player claiming that foreign UFC and UFR producers and exporters are engaged in unfair trade practices. The Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade supported our client's position eventually finding that UFC and UFR are very different products. With respect to UFC the Commission found no proof that the national industry suffered any injury – hence there were no grounds to impose anti-dumping duties. With respect to UFR a 39.94% duty was imposed.

Asters' International Trade team working on the project consisted of counsel Dmytro Vidsota, associates Olga Vashulenko and Tetiana Bebik led by partner Alexey Pustovit.
