Seasoned New York Real Estate Litigator Joins Haynes and Boone
Emilie B. Cooper, an accomplished litigator with significant experience handling disputes in the real estate and hospitality arenas, has joined Haynes and Boone, LLP as a partner in the firm’s New York Office.
“Emilie is a highly skilled, first-chair trial lawyer who will bring tremendous value to our clients and help us continue building our litigation practice in New York and throughout the firm,” said Rick Anigian, chair of Haynes and Boone’s Litigation Department.
Cooper’s focus is on representing real estate and hotel investors, developers, lenders, owners, managers, and operators through all stages of complex litigation. Her knowledge of the real estate and hotel industries, particularly in New York, has helped her both pursue and defend high-stakes litigations and arbitrations on behalf of her clients, including breach of contract, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, commercial tort, and foreclosure claims. She also frequently provides advice concerning the litigation implications of agreements and transactions within the real estate and hotel industries.
“I’m excited to join Haynes and Boone and take advantage of the synergies between my litigation experience and the firm’s robust real estate and transactional practices," said Cooper, who previously was a partner at Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP in New York. “This is an exciting opportunity to help Haynes and Boone grow its litigation platform.”
Brad Lavender, co-chair of Haynes and Boone’s Real Estate Department, said, “Emilie is a very experienced and well respected real estate litigator. She is an excellent addition to the firm, and her practice will be a great complement to our national real estate practice.”
