Shoosmiths' Innovation, Projects and Commitment to Clients Recognised at Estates Gazette Awards
National law firm Shoosmiths is delighted to have won 'Legal Team of the Year' at the Estate Gazette Awards, a prestigious ceremony recognising the real estate market's best, last night.
The firm was shortlisted for the award alongside other nominees; Clifford Chance, Hogan Lovells, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, Addleshaw Goddard and CMS, Davitt Jones Bould and Landsec. Shoosmiths came top when it’s innovative approach to deals and the scale and impact of its projects 'stood out'.
By collaborating with clients and putting them first, over the last year Shoosmiths has seen the result of the projects it has advised on change the skyline of the UK's cities - and beyond.
Key deals highlighted include:
• Allied London’s No 1 Spinningfields development in Manchester, which sold for in excess of £200m – advising on every aspect including acquisition, development and pre-letting.
• Acting for IM Properties on the redevelopment of the historic 55 Colmore Row, Birmingham, and £98m sale to Henderson. Instructed by Henderson to manage the asset after impressing them on the other side.
• Acting on the purchase, planning and development by Formal Investments Limited of an innovative 2m sq ft “mega-basement” of underground warehouse storage of a greenfield site near Heathrow.
Shoosmiths' real estate divisional head, Simon Boss, commented:
“It is a delight to have won such a prestigious award for our real estate team, which has enjoyed a stellar year of growth, winning new mandates and investing in new, agile locations across the UK.
"Our clients like that they get all the services they need under one roof - from transactional advice, to planning, environmental, construction, tax, litigation expertise and more. Our practice is easily accessible for real estate deal-makers in every region.
"As such, our division has grown with a raft of new partners and teams across the UK. Clients and the people who want to come and work alongside us understand that every piece of work - including very high calibre projects - is undertaken at Shoosmiths with the utmost attention to client experience.
"We take great care, and pride in what we do and how we do it - clients tell us that we also get the 'people bit' right - never taking a client for granted, and investing in the relationships which are at the heart of providing a great service. We have also worked hard to give our practice a competitive edge by investing in talent and by thinking innovatively in the way our projects are delivered. It is great to see that our unique approach is being recognised by the market."
