Jeanne Whalen Named an “Up & Coming Lawyer” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly

Jeanne M. Whalen, Bloomfield Hills-based member in Dykema’s Corporate Finance practice, was named one of 30 “Up & Coming Lawyers” for 2018 by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. A luncheon celebrating the honorees will be held December 13 at the Detroit Marriott in Troy, Michigan.

According to Michigan Lawyers Weekly, the honorees of the Up & Coming Lawyers Class of 2018 are attorneys in their first 10 years of practice who are establishing a name for themselves, going above and beyond, and displaying the ambition, drive, determination and accomplishments that set them apart from their peers.

Whalen focuses her practice on general corporate, contracting, and acquisition matters, with an emphasis on technology and health care-related transactions. Her experience includes working on many public and private company mergers and acquisitions and joint venture transactions; representing technology and other companies engaging in technology-related transactions; and general corporate representation including counsel to Boards of Directors, entity information and capitalization, shareholder agreements, and customer and supplier relationships.

She has had a hand in serving as counsel to many Dykema clients through matters involving private equity, middle market and closely-held M&A transactions, including entity structure and governance; IT and business process outsourcing transactions; technology agreement overflow contract review, technology development and licensing agreements; joint venture/licensing arrangements; health care/technology reseller agreements; assisted living facility acquisitions and divestitures; and dental practice acquisitions.

Whalen earned a J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Toledo and a B.S.E. in Computer Science, magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan.
