J. Tanner Watkins Named 2019 Bingham Fellow
Louisville partner J. Tanner Watkins has been selected as one of 41 members of the 2019 Bingham Fellows class.
The Bingham Fellows program is the advanced leadership program of the Leadership Louisville Center and brings together community leaders for a year-long collaboration focused on developing solutions to local challenges. The 2019 program topic is “It Takes a Village – Mobilizing Community for Student Success,” and class members will explore ways community members and businesses can engage to promote academic achievement among local students.
Watkins concentrates his practice in the areas of business and fiduciary litigation, banking litigation, personal injury litigation, product liability litigation, and insurance coverage litigation. He has spent much of his career representing a wide range of companies, from smaller local businesses to well-known brands in the logistics, agricultural manufacturing, pharmaceutical, banking, trust, insurance, and investment banking industries. He also has experience in natural resources litigation, including defending nationwide energy companies.
His community involvement includes serving as 2015 – 2016 chair of the Kentucky Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division (KBA YLD), member of the 2017 Leadership Louisville class, and endowment committee member for Louisville’s Fund For the Arts. Watkins was named KBA YLD's “Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year” in 2017 and the University of Kentucky College of Law's "Outstanding Young Professional" in 2018.
