Laura Shapiro Selected for 2019 Dana Juett Residency

September, 2018 - Dallas, Texas

Haynes and Boone, LLP Associate Laura Shapiro has been chosen to participate in the Dana Juett Residency’s Class of 2019. Created by Social Venture Partners Dallas and the Sapphire Foundation, the program helps young professionals become philanthropic leaders.

The program was inspired by the late Dana Juett, a dedicated philanthropist who worked with various non-profits in Dallas. Dana spent his life using the power of community to effect social impact, and the program seeks to share his values and techniques for creating change with a new generation.

During the nine-month program, residents will be guided under the venture philanthropy model, which has been used by the Social Venture to empower philanthropists for more than 30 years. Residents will attend workshops and community events, hear from industry leading speakers, and practice guided nonprofit consulting. They will deepen their understanding of systemic social issues and develop expertise in creating sustainable, powerful social innovation.

"I am honored to learn from and work alongside such inspiring and engaging young professionals,” Shapiro said. “It's exciting to be a part of an open-minded community aiming to make a positive social impact."

Shapiro is an associate in the Finance Practice Group in Haynes and Boone’s Dallas office. She represents lenders and borrowers in a variety of commercial and corporate financial transactions. Her practice focuses on assisting clients with acquisition financing, real estate secured facilities, syndicated credit facilities, and subscription secured finance. Her experience also includes representations in energy and restructuring matters.
