Motesque Enters Into Cooperation with Ottobock – Heuking Advises Start-Up

A team led by Dr. Michael Sörgel advised the start-up Motesque on a cooperation with Ottobock SE. Together, the two companies intend to further develop a digital, cloud-based platform for motion analysis developed by Motesque and market it as a medical device. The platform is suitable for faster and simpler diagnosis of knee malfunctions through an automated procedure for dynamic evaluation of kinematic knee function.

Start-up company Motesque, based in Brooklyn (USA) and Cologne, Germany, was founded in 2015 and specializes in intelligent motion analysis systems for sports, healthcare, ergonomics, and research. In addition to Ottobock, the technology company cooperates with other internationally successful brands and research partners.

Duderstadt-based Ottobock SE & Co. KGaA is the parent company of the orthopaedics division of Ottobock group, which supplies products and services in medical technology that are sold worldwide. Operating in the fields of prosthetics, orthotics, human mobility (manual and electric wheelchairs as well as rehabilitation products), Ottobock Industrials, and the Clinical Services Network, the company offers its customers a wide range of products and comprehensive services. Ottobock SE was established in 1919 as Orthopädische Industrie GmbH by entrepreneur Otto Bock and has been managed by Professor Hans Georg Näder since 1990.
