Dinsmore Adds Six Associates Across Three States

Dinsmore & Shohl LLP continues to grow its presence in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia, where it has recently welcomed six attorneys.

Dwight D. Myfelt joins the Cincinnati office as an associate of counsel and brings more than two decades of experience to the firm with a strong focus on immigration law. He engages with employers and health care professionals throughout every stage of the immigration process, from securing visas at U.S. consulates, to amending existing petitions, initiating transfer cases, and filing extensions of status and applications to adjust status. Myfelt earned his J.D. from University of Cincinnati College of Law and received his B.A. in English from Cedarville University. Myfelt frequently speaks and writes on immigration health care issues.

Dinsmore’s litigation practice group is growing to over 160 members from coast to coast with the addition of four new associates: Julia A. Sherburne, David R. Stone II, J. Michael Prascik and K. Cassandra Carter.

Sherburne is joining the Cincinnati office and focuses her practice on privacy and data security. She has worked with Counsel Acxiom, a global leader in data, on federal privacy and breach notice laws and has educated members of Lobby House Energy and Commerce and Senate Commerce on the ethical use and value of data in the marketplace. Sherburne received her J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University, graduating magna cum laude. She received her M.A. at the University of Texas and her B.A. from the University of New Orleans.

Stone comes to the Morgantown office having handled cases involving higher education, deliberate intent, wrongful discharge, wrongful death, ERISA, personal injury, breach of contract, and oil and gas litigation. Stone received his J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law, his M.S. from West Virginia University and his B.S. from American University.

Prascik joins the Wheeling office from Legal Aid of West Virginia, where he acted as supervising attorney and was responsible for day-to-day management of the regional office of a large nonprofit public interest law firm. He also litigated matters involving family law, public benefits law, private and public housing law, and individual rights. He received his J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law and his B.A. in English from West Virginia University.

Carter is the newest addition to the Lexington office. She focuses her work on helping clients make critical decisions to advance matters from pre-litigation through successful resolution. She received her J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law, where she was the mentorship chair of the Women’s Law Caucus. She received her B.A. in political science and speech communication from Ashland University.

Rudy J. Ellis III is among the Louisville office’s newest talent focusing on employment law. Ellis comes to the firm from Goldberg Simpson LLC, where he focused on insurance defense, commercial, business, and construction litigation. He received his J.D. from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law and his B.A. in journalism from Indiana University. Ellis serves as the vice president of programming for the Young Professionals Association of Louisville and is a member of the Brandeis School of Law Alumni Council.
