Shepherd and Wedderburn LLP has promoted two of its lawyers to Partner and four to Legal Director, effective May 1.

Judith Stephenson, a property and infrastructure specialist who joined the firm’s Glasgow office as an Associate in 2014, and private client and tax specialist Douglas Sinclair, who joined Shepherd and Wedderburn as a trainee in 2005, have both been assumed as Partners.

Judith has extensive experience in the full spectrum of commercial property transactions, with particular expertise in residential development, affordable housing and regeneration sites. She acts for housebuilders and Registered Social Landlords throughout Scotland.

Douglas advises on UK tax matters, with a particular focus on inheritance tax and capital gains tax and on succession, trusts, partnerships and charities. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is a former tutor at the University of Edinburgh on the private client course as part of the Diploma in Legal Practice. He is also one of a small number of Scottish solicitors who are also Chartered Tax Advisers.

The latest partner promotions take the number of Shepherd and Wedderburn Partners to 80. Recent lateral Partner hires include energy sector specialists Anthony McEwan and Moray Thomson, and Gillian Campbell, who is leading the firm’s private client offering in the north of Scotland from its Aberdeen office.

In this latest promotion round, four senior Shepherd and Wedderburn lawyers have been promoted to Legal Director. They are property and infrastructure specialists Kirsteen Milne, Euan Murray George McKinlay and Lesley Proctor.

Kirsteen advises on all aspects of construction work. She is dual qualified – Scotland and England and Wales – and has a master’s degree in Construction Law. Kirsteen is a member of the Society of Construction Law and Women in Property.

Euan advises on energy, housing, defence, waste, transport, health and education infrastructure projects, as well as the outsourcing of public sector services and structuring bespoke procurement solutions for clients. Euan is admitted in Scotland and England and Wales.

George specialises in commercial property, advising on property investment, development, regeneration and leasing work with both private and public sector clients, and has a wealth of experience advising private and public sector bodies in relation to landlord and tenant, regeneration, redevelopment and management of property assets.

Lesley advises developers, investors and funders of renewable energy projects, including onshore and offshore wind, hydro and solar projects, and has acted for both landlords and tenants in high profile lease transactions, managed property portfolios for institutional landlords and for both sellers and purchasers of commercial property.
