WSG member firm, Shoosmiths LLP, hosted a 60-minute webinar discussing Shared & Halved - Occupier.

The COVID-19 crisis continues to affect all of our businesses in ways that we have never experienced. It is increasingly clear that we all need to work together to find solutions, and to understand how the market is reacting and may develop in response to the current crisis. We are keen to encourage conversation and facilitate discussion to ensure views are heard and answers can be found that are beneficial to our occupier clients.

To support our occupier clients, Shoosmiths hosted a webinar discussion as part of their “Shared & Halved” initiative, to look at the most pressing issues impacting the occupier community in light of the unique challenges posed by the pandemic, including initial responses to the immediate crisis, and also how transactions can continue to be managed in this changed environment.

Areas discussed:

  • The moratorium on forfeiture, and other remedies which remain available to the Landlord
  • Response to tenant requests for rent holidays/deferments etc
  • Property management issues (including the provision of services) during lock-down
  • The emergence of "pandemic drafting" which we are starting to see come through from Landlord's solicitors, and how the market may evolve in connection with this issue.
  • Covid grants
  • Delivering VP on break and expiry
