This coupled with high unemployment led to a decrease in the GDP, which in turn impacted several areas of the Mexican insurance sector. To date in 2022, the Mexican economy has shown recovery versus the previous year, mainly due to exportation. However, as post-pandemic uncertainty continues, and with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine impacting several commodities, generating increases in interest rates and investment risk, the expansion of global inflation continues. Inflation has been increasing gradually since the beginning of 2021, and the impact in the insurance sector has been devastating.
