Profile
Alexandra (Alex) Shulman is a member of Buchalter’s Litigation and Labor and Employment Practice Groups. She defends employers against claims in a variety of labor and employment litigation areas, including wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, wage and hour, health and safety, and employee mobility matters.
Ms. Shulman also provides employers of all sizes with advice and counsel on a wide range of issues, including hiring, terminations, disciplinary matters, employment agreements, policy and handbook review, protected leave, noncompetition agreements and restrictive covenants, reductions in force, workplace accommodations, privacy laws, health and safety issues, wage and hour laws, and other matters of legal compliance.
In addition to her employment practice, Ms. Shulman also represents clients in complex business, commercial, consumer fraud, and professional liability litigation.

<p><strong>Highlights of Ms. Shulman’s work include:</strong></p><ul><li>Defeated a motion for temporary restraining order brought by former employer to enforce a non-compete and alleging trade secrets violations.</li><li>Prevailed on appeal in the Oregon Court of Appeals in a consumer protection class action lawsuit.</li><li>Prevailed on appeal in the Oregon Court of Appeals in a consumer protection lawsuit filed by the State of Oregon.</li><li>Obtained complete summary judgment and case dismissal for defendant in breach of contract and trespass dispute.</li><li>Obtained a defense verdict in a two-week jury trial on an $11 million dollar whistleblower retaliation claim.</li><li>Obtained dismissal of complaint before the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries alleging disability, sex, and sexual orientation discrimination.</li><li>Obtained dismissal with prejudice of all claims asserted against two attorney defendants.</li><li>Obtained summary judgment in favor of defendant in a case involving allegations of disability discrimination and sexual harassment.</li><li>Obtained summary judgment in favor of law firm defendant in legal malpractice matter.</li></ul>
