Profile
Fernando Bedoya was born in Santa Cruz, Bolivia in 1983. He received his Law Degree in 2007 from Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz, where he graduated with Academic Excellence - the University's highest distinction. In 2009 he obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M.) Degree in Corporate Law from New York University School of Law (NYU).
As a young Senior Associate, Fernando has a strong background in complex corporate transactions. His advice includes corporate restructuring, corporate governance, M&A and spin-offs. He recently acted as main counsel for the biggest M&A deal in Bolivia's history (as reported by financial institutions), which involved the prior spin-off of the target company. Given the fact that spin-offs are still rare in Bolivia, he obtained the first "Spin-off Certificate" ever issued by the Commerce Registry in Santa Cruz, thus setting the standard for this type of transactions.
Moreover, given Fernando's experience with corporate clients, his advice also includes labor and employment matters as well as civil and civil procedure matters. In this regard, he acts as outside counsel in foreclosure procedures for a major Bolivian bank.
He worked for five years at a very prestigious Law Firm in Santa Cruz until he moved to NYC to obtain his LL.M. After his LL.M. he acted as legal advisor for his family investment group in the incorporation of a gas company in Peru and in the drafting of his Family Protocol.
Other activities include:
Member of the Board of his family's Investment Group.
Advisor of the Board of "Juventud Empresa", an organization created to promote young entrepreneurs and professionals.
Advisor of the Board of the Santa Cruz Equestrian Club.
He has lived in Germany, Boston and New York.
