Profile
Mansoor Parker is an Executive at ENS in the Tax practice and specialises in corporate tax, energy tax, carbon tax, sports tax and international tax.
Mansoor has advised clients on setting up new operations in South Africa, carrying out the necessary tax due diligence, acquiring competitors, developing tax compliant structures that optimise investment while ensuring smooth implementation and management, completing the tax-related post-deal activities, negotiating with tax authorities, and devising employee compensation and retention plans.
Mansoor is an expert in advising corporates and B-BBEE shareholders on the tax-efficient structuring, re-structuring, financing, and refinancing of broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) investment and ownership transactions, including loans, equity, preference share funding and notional vendor financing arrangements.
Mansoor is also an expert in the South African tax aspects of local and international private equity fund formation and transactions as well as the South African tax aspects of venture capital structures.
Mansoor advises clients on the various fiscal provisions relevant to the tax treatment of energy and carbon. He advises clients on the tax aspects of energy projects through the different phases: project development, financial close, construction, commercial operation and decommissioning. He advises clients on the determination of their carbon tax liability including the various statutory mechanisms which enable carbon tax liable entities to reduce their ultimate liability. He is a co-author of the Concise guide to Carbon Tax and the Comprehensive Guide to Carbon Tax.
Mansoor has advised a number of world sports organisations, national sports federations and professional clubs. His experience includes the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003, the 2010 FIFA World Cup South AfricaTM and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027. Mansoor advises on cross-border tax from the perspective of both foreign inward investment into South Africa and domestic outward investment from South Africa.
He is a member of the International Bar Association, and the South African Institute of Taxation.
