Mariana’s practice focuses on complex employment and labor law litigation.

Mariana has represented clients in all aspects of employment and labor law litigation as well as in administrative actions and on appeal. Her experience includes wage and hour class and collective actions, employee raiding, unfair competition, employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. In addition to her employment and labor law experience, Mariana also has an extensive general litigation background.

Mariana is a contributing author to the Hunton Employment & Labor Law Perspectives blog. Prior to joining Hunton & Williams LLP, Mariana worked in-house at a real estate group where she advised on employment-related matters and handled company litigation.

Mariana has clerked for both the Supreme and Superior Courts for the State of Alaska. She is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Central, Northern, and Southern Districts of California.

Relevant Experience

  • Represented temporary staffing agency in appeal for waiting time penalties before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • Represented hospital in multiple putative class actions involving claims for misclassification, waiting time penalties, and other violations of California’s wage and hour laws.
  • Represented packaging company in putative class action involving claims for a second meal period, a third rest period, and other violations of California’s wage and hour laws.
  • Represented employers from multiple industries in various single-plaintiff discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination cases.
