Profile
Nicholas' practice as a partner was a combined finance and corporate practice. He has acted for international banks and other financial institutions on £billions in value of Jersey property finance structures (SPVs, unit trusts and limited partnerships) and related securitisations, and undertaken other complex structured finance and equity derivative work.
Within a wide-ranging corporate practice, he acted on the AIM listings of Nature Group plc, Camco Clean Energy plc, EAG Limited, China Eastsea Business Software Limited and Bellzone Mining plc, and has done subsequent important work. He acted for former AIM-listed Rambler Media Limited on the scheme of arrangement by which the minority interest was acquired.
His corporate practice extended into restructuring and insolvency.
Now, as a consultant, he combines contributing to others' transactions with work on knowhow and precedents, and representing the firm on reviews of legislation.
Nicholas is rated as a Leading Lawyer - Expert consultant in IFLR1000 2022.

Nicholas, who was educated at Cambridge, joined Carey Olsen as a partner in 2000. He worked for City law firm Watson, Farley & Williams in London then Paris before moving to Jersey in 1994. He qualified as a Jersey Solicitor in 1997.
Nicholas is also a member of Carey Olsen LLP (the firm's London office) and served as Honorary Treasurer, and Committee member, of the Jersey Law Society for several years until April 2016.
