Sara advises clients on all aspects of the employment relationship and when necessary, vigorously represents them in litigation, investigations, and labor disputes. 

Sara helps companies of all sizes manage their most important (and riskiest) asset—their people. She collaborates with clients to implement best employment practices, find creative solutions to employee disputes, and draft policies and agreements. 

Sara regularly represents employers before the DOL, EEOC and NLRB, as well as in litigation in state and federal courts across the country. Known for her thorough pursuit of facts and legal arguments, she has obtained successful outcomes in cases involving the Fair Labor Standards Act, the National Labor Relations Act, non-compete agreements, Title VII, and related state statutes.

While her practice focuses primarily on employment and labor law, Sara also serves generally as outside counsel to several clients.  For small businesses, she handles day-to-day legal and litigation matters, and for an international organization, oversees the engagement of counsel and a diverse docket of matters across the country. A portion of Sara’s practice also focuses on advising trade organizations on labor legislation and proposals at the state and federal level.

In 2017 and again in 2018, Sara was the youngest lawyer selected as a “Georgia Rising Star” by Georgia Super Lawyers Magazine in the area of Employment & Labor, an honor given to less than 2.5 percent of lawyers nominated by peers and selected through independent research. Sara is also a contributing author to the firm’s Employment & Labor Perspectives blog.

In law school, Sara clerked at the Atlanta District Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the US Department of Labor’s Office of the Solicitor, and for Chief Justice Carol Hunstein of the Supreme Court of Georgia. In addition, she researched and published several articles on constitutional exemptions to Title VII as a member of the editorial board of the Emory Law Journal.

Experience

• Obtained full judgment on the merits for a Korean media company after the same court denied summary judgment to the co-defendant on substantially-similar facts.
• Was a member of the Hunton team that obtained the first known order enforcing a Georgia restrictive covenant agreement in another country.
• On behalf of an international freight company, obtained plaintiff’s voluntary, no-settlement dismissal of a high-exposure lawsuit after uncovering evidence of plaintiff’s fraud in an unrelated legal matter.
• In union organizing elections, helped secure a management win or withdrawal of the petition for clients in the entertainment and retail industries.
• Obtained a favorable outcome in an FLSA lawsuit after developing and asserting legal arguments under the Commerce Clause of the US Constitution.
