Sheri’s practice focuses on labor and employment matters.

Sheri practice focuses on representation of employers in federal, state and arbitral forums, as well as in administrative proceedings. Her cases involve a wide range of claims including discrimination, sexual and other forms of harassment, wrongful discharge, retaliation, defamation, fraud, intentional infliction of emotional distress and breach of contract. Additionally, Sheri regularly advises employers regarding employee relations issues, conducts investigations and provides advice regarding compliance issues.

Sheri served as Briefing Attorney to the Honorable John S. Anderson on the Fourteenth Court of Appeals from 2003 to 2004 and was an Adjunct Professor in Appellate Advocacy for South Texas College of Law from 2003 to 2007.

Sheri is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts and all Texas state courts.

Relevant Experience

  • Successfully obtained a summary judgment and defended that judgment before the Fifth Circuit in an employment defamation case in Frakes v. Crete Carrier Corp., 579 F.3d 426 (5th Cir. 2009).
  • Successfully defended a mandamus petition involving an allegation of overbroad discovery requests in an employment contract dispute in In re Texas Tornado Hockey Club, L.P., No. 05-09-00807-CV, 2009 WL 2454893 (Tex. App.—Dallas Aug. 12, 2009) (orig. proceeding).
  • Obtained defense verdict at trial in favor of a national consumer finance company defending against hostile work environment and retaliation claims asserted by a former employee.
  • Successfully obtained summary judgment in a complex commercial litigation case involving claims for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, conspiracy, negligence, negligent representation, and gross negligence. King Aerospace Commercial v. Al-Anwa Aviation, Inc., No. 3:08-CV-0999-L, 2010 WL 3582597 (N.D. Tex., Sept. 10, 2010).
  • Successfully obtained reversal of a default judgment in a products liability case in Watts Water Technologies, Inc., v. Farmers Insurance Exchange, No. 03-09-0002-CV, 2010 WL 1946908 (Tex. App.—Austin May 14, 2010) (no pet.).
